HAMSTRING TEARS, INJURY & TREATMENT
Hamstring tears can be complicated and need to be assessed carefully to select the best management.
Many hamstring tears also have some involvement of the sciatic nerve and with some simple tests we can differentiate between types of tears.
Hamstring Treatment
If the sciatic nerve is involved there are specific manual therapy techniques only physiotherapists can provide to release the muscle and nerve.
If the injury does not involve the sciatic nerve or lower back, commencing a carefully graded strengthening and stretching program is critical to regaining full function and prevent recurrent strains.
